Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater). This form of environmental degradation occurs when pollutants are directly or indirectly discharged into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

Source of water pollution in the construction industry:


* sewage water

* Car wash area / Workshop activities

* stormwater discharge

Wastewater treatment methods:


The following treatment methods are adapted to clean wastewater from household waste and industrial waste.

* Projection

* Sand remover

* Primary clarification

* Biological treatment if there is BOD, COD

* Final clarification

* Disinfection


Wastewater management of the curing / smelting yard:


* Optimize the water requirement to cure

* Using wet whites / jute fabric to keep moisture

* The runoff of the curing water must be done from the bodies of water.

* Overflow water from the curing yard will be collected in a tank through open or closed drains.

* Reuse collected curing water. Fresh water will be added only for loss.

* At each 3-day interval, the complete collected curing water will be used for sprinkling / dust suppression purposes.

Collection and treatment of wastewater from batch processing plants:


* Wastewater from the batch processing plant mixer will be collected at the treatment plant through the transit mixer or through the drainage system.

* The collected wastewater will be treated by a dosing method using alum solution in the following steps;

* Drink 20 liters of fresh water and add 1 kg of alum powder with the appropriate mixture for 5 minutes. This solution will be added as a test to reduce the pH within the range of 6.5 to 8.5

* Before dosing, the initial pH of the residual water in the sedimentation chamber must be checked. This pH level varies with the amount of water used to wash the drum and the characteristics of the mixture.

* The dosage can be standardized only after periodic observations for the pH of the wastewater.

* The same washing water collected from the batch processing plant will be used to wash and clean the traffic mixing drums. Under no circumstances, fresh water will not be used.

Wastewater management of the car wash area and workshop activities:


* Install an oil separator in the car wash area.

* Cleaning and degreasing of the vehicle and components must be carried out in the designed washing area.

* A wastewater recycling system will be installed.


* Sludge / waste deposited in the oil separator and the associated treatment system will be reused / disposed of by authorized parties.

* All spills or leaks from plant machinery and vehicles should be cleaned with absorbent in a localized area.
