Silica powder "- Silica is a natural mineral present in large quantities in things such as sand, sandstone and granite. It is also commonly found in building materials primarily as concrete and mortar. Silica breaks into very fine dust (also known as Repairable crystalline silica or RCS) during many common tasks such as cutting, drilling, is often called silica dust.

Silica free powder:

There are several construction products where silica is or not found or present in very low quantities. The most common include plaster, cement, limestone, marble and dolomite. This powder is also mixed with silica dust when cutting things like bricks.

Site dust control strategy:

1. Measures during the transport of construction material.

2. Measures during storage of construction material.

3. Measures during construction activities, and
4. Minimization of the impact of air pollution on the receivers.

5. Measures for adequate protection.

Dust control during transport:

1. Vehicles with an open cargo transport area shall not be used to move potentially dust-producing materials. Vehicles will have adequate sides and sides.

2. Materials that have the potential to generate dust will not be loaded to a higher level than the sides and tail boards, and will be transported in vehicles equipped with covers.

3. Workers who work in dust-generating areas will wear nasal masks. Posters that advise workers to wear nasal masks will be displayed.

Periodic maintenance and services will be carried out to prevent the exit of contaminated gases from equipment and vehicles.

Dust control during storage of construction material:

1. Excavated materials will be placed in designated discharge / disposal areas.

2. The material will be placed in a way that minimizes dust production.

3. The material will stabilize during the summer season, every day, watering every two hours.

4. The heights from which the materials are released shall be limited to 1.5 m. to limit the generation of fugitive dust.

Dust control during construction activities on site:

1. Water will be sprayed at construction sites at regular intervals to suppress dust, during handling of excavated dry land or debris or during demolition work.

2. Water sprays will be used during the delivery and handling of all raw sand, and aggregate and other similar materials, when dust is likely to be created and wet all materials stored during dry and windy weather.

3. All motor vehicles on the katcha / GSB roads on the Site must have a maximum speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

4. The sites of the concrete plant and the crushing plant and auxiliary areas will be cleaned frequently and water will be sprayed to minimize dust emissions.

5. Electrostatic precipitators / dust collectors / bag filters will be installed in the batch processing plant to ensure the lowest emission.

6. Barriers / fences will be provided safely around all construction work sites (ie, near any sensitive area) during the main construction activity, when reasonably possible, to contain dust within the site area and also to reduce air turbulence caused by traffic.

7. The top of the aggregate / fine sand can be sprayed with water in a gentle way to reduce dust under control.

Measures for adequate protection:

1. Suitable RPE (respiratory protection equipment) near the source of dust generation.

2. The RPE will be compatible with another PPE.

3. The use of RPE correctly and in case of tight masks, a clean shave should be performed.
